FileVault Problems

I wouldn't touch this "feature" with a ten foot pole at the moment! Just glad it wasn't one of those things that is turned on by default. eek2.gif

A quick scan of MFI, Apple, and a few other discussions boards all indicate this is a wide-spread problem with serious consequences, and no easy fix on the horizon.

You are correctomundo again Paddy (or is that being redundant?) You can bet FileVault does not sing it's clarion call to me. whistling.gif

Luckily, I've not had time to fool about with some of Panther's "features"...tongue.gif

Don't think FileVault was going to be something I'd be all that eager to try though - my children are about the only "security risks" around here, and since both G4's (PB & Sawtooth) are backed up to each other, they'd have to mess with both simultaneously to do serious damage. And they know if they touch the Sawtooth they're in BIG trouble. I'm going to set up a user account for them on the Powerbook(since some of their games now require faster processors or OS X they're spending more time on it than the iMac or the beige G3...sigh) - that should keep them away from my files and their games out of my way. Being able to switch users without rebooting is a nice little feature!

Wonder how long it will take Apple to fix FileVault?
