Flat Screen Monitors

I have a good old LaCie electron19 monitor, but it just take up too much deskspace.  Am considering switching to a 17" or 20" flatscreen.  Has anyone got experience of Apple or Formac screens?  Would you recommend either, or go for a cheaper make?  Samsung. Mitsubishi & Flatron are a helluva lot less money, but are they any good?

Apple monitors are great, but costly.

A friend just biught this Planar monitor;

Costco has Princeton monitors, and while I haven't compared prices, Costco usually beats everyone hands-down.  Plus Costco's return policy positively cannot be matched by anyone that I am aware of...

I cannot speak to the Princeton quality-I posted my own query about Princeton monitors!

thanx.gif  bobw & Mayo.  The Planar certainly looks good and the price is right, but don't think it's available in the UK.  But will hunt for it.

If you cannot find a comparable LCD monitor in the UK, I highly recommend the Apple Cinema Display. I thoroughly enjoy mine!

If the idea of dead pixels has your attention, perhaps the highly rated PiXel Check v1.2 is for you. It is even Panther compliant. This small (424 KB) freeware app is easily run. Ergo, you may even be able to check/test your new purchase before taking it home.

be sure to always use paypal, otherwise, I wouldn't buy...

Oops, I missed the UK part.  There aren't Costcos in Britain?

Why only use PayPal when purchasing on eBay?  A DUMB question, I know...

Here's another ringing endorsement/recommendation for the Aple 20" Cinema Display. Simply dazzling.

Thanks to all for your input.    It's beginning to look like I'll have to go for the Apple 20".   Thank heavens for credit cards  rolleyes.gif

I currently have the Sony 18.1" LCD side-by-side with the Apple 20" LCD monitor. Wow what a difference, although for price I feel you can't beat the Sony. It should be available in UK.
