Does anyone have any experience using the Olympus C-50 digital camera with a Mac, esp. when it comes to using it with iPhoto?

Hey macdoug, I have used a C-50 with iphoto and it  worked, but I didn't use it extensively. I run a D550 on OS9.2 using Camedia pro and Iview pro at home. Both Cameras took Qtime.jpg's which if I'm not mistaken, is what iPhoto works with. Although, the day I use the C-50 and iPhoto I tested 6 different software packages an 3 cameras so I can't be real specific. I liked the C-50 for it’s size, but had a bit of a time finding a good place to put my fingers without touching something I shouldn't. It’s not a Olympus problem exclusively, I have the same problem with all Micro shooters, to many buttons and fingers competing for the same space.

What do you need iphoto to do? I mean, that would be done in Camedia? Camedia stitches, slides, pans, washes your dishes........ just curious?  biggrin.gif  huh.gif

I think Bill's still running an Olympus maybe he'll come out an play?

While I have not used this specific camera, I can say that I have used a number of different camera makes and models with iPhoto on my 'Mirror Door' (running 10.2.6) and have yet to have a single problem.  My camera is an Olympus C-4040Z and I have used it a fair amount (2000+ photos) without a hitch.  I love my Olympus.  Don't know if this helps or not...

While not perhaps answering the specific Mac-related questions, the reader reviews at dpreview.com are worth perusing.

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Olym...us/oly_c50z.asp

A little concerned about the number of complaints from people with a lot of experience with digicams and the Olympus ones in particular. Several of them complain of unacceptably noisy images with the c50, compared to other Olympus models. I tend to give a bit more weight to reviews from those who aren't crowing about it being "their first digital camera" - everyone is blown away the first time they use a digital camera!

I'd compare the 5 MP cameras very carefully, using dpreview.com's comparison feature - read as many of the reader reviews as possible, as well as the site reviews, before worrying about whether or not it works with iPhoto. I haven't heard of one that doesn't - generally the best way of transferring photos from a camera to a computer is a card reader, not the camera to the computer directly (generally sloooow). Card readers are cheap and well worth it.

Me...I like Canons and Nikons (have owned and still own both and tried a few others).
