I have a rather strange problem with the PM5500 of my sister.
When I re-installed the OS a week ago (MacOS 9.1, all minor updates installed), I backuped all of her stuff via network. Unfortunately, I forgot some files and the computer was already back at her place. So I simply burned them on a CD-R disk.
However, when I now try to insert the disk into the 5500, the disk is ejected instantly without even appearing on the desktop. I first thought that something went wrong while buring the disk, but in my computers, it works perfectly and burning the CD again didn't help either. I really can't think of a reason, since if the CD was the problem, I'd expect the system to tell me (something like "can't read the disk. do you want to initialize it?"). But that doesn't happen.
I also thought that it might be the fault of the CD-Rs (Samsung 48x), perhaps because they are 48x speed. But a 48x TDK worked (not mine).
Anyone have an idea what the problem is?
Thanks!
