Found the CUDA button and change finder

WOW.gif Found the CUDA button under the CPU heat sink, put it back and pressed for about a minute, then rebooted. I reset the time and date and took the OS 8.5 cd and copied the finder from it to the desktop and did a Jerry's finder 8 patch on that finder from the cd. Moved the one on the harddrive to the trash and install the patched one to the system folder and rebooted and now no more crashes. thumbup.gif

Hi Chris!

Congrats, that was a bewildering story! And hope it holds... But, what is the CUDA button? And where could it be in a B&W rev1? There was def. not such a thing under the CPU heatsink.... But more to the bottom of the board (where the big powerplug comes in) there are two smallish, grey buttons...What do they do?????

As far as I know the CUDA button is basically a motherboard reset switch. They are kind of hard to find on the motherboard, some are red like in my 7300 the one in my 8600 was sliver looked like a flat cap. It is a small flat button that you hold down for a few seconds, I did for a minute just to be sure. I am sure there are people out there who can tell you of a site that has the location, I am sure there is one out there, there is for just about everything else. And again thanks for all the suggestions, with all of them I used it helped with the success of fixing this problem.

Thanx for looking Kelly! article 111934 is def gone and i have seen interesting pages concerning the B&W, but no CUDA.... But it seems one can reset them when needed. Hihi, if you only know when! Is this The Zapping the Pram? Hmm, could be...
