We've been hit hard with this one at work. I received a bunch of auto-messages from our IS dept today about emails that were being sent to me (from addresses I didn't know) that were infected and therefore blocked. I had one or two emails I never sent going to people I don't know, not make it out of our system-and bounce back to me. We've gotten a big time warning about these new ones.  eek2.gif

I've had the same situation at work, too, and some of our machines there are Mac's.  I still need to ask this though .... because I can access my work e-mail here at home, is there any chance at all that this DOOM thing is going to get into my Mac's Mail address book?  I'm sure the answer is no, but this one makes me nervous because I've never received any of the other virii or worms at work before this one today. huh.gif

No. Those are essentially Windows Applications. smile.gif

They can't run on or hurt your mac. smile.gif

I've gotten a number of them today too - including some bounces from email that spoofed one of my email addresses - ironically, one I NEVER use to send email except VERY VERY occasionally. However, I'm a member of a big MA school system tech email list using that addy, so no doubt someone in one of MA schools has been infected. I've received many Windoze virii over the years on my trusty Macs - and they just sit there, harmless. It's sort of like looking at a sleeping rattlesnake... wink.gif

The only thing that I've ever gotten from my PeeCee friends that affected my system was an infected macro in a Word file - those are cross-platform. But, thankfully, relatively easy to avoid or remove.

Thanks, Kelly and Paddy!  I'll just keep reminding those at work who are truly suffering from this, how much easier it would be if they added a Mac to their daily lives!  wink.gif

thumbup.gif I am glad I have a Mac. I have been trying to steer people I know to them, showed them the proformance of my used "older" Mac. I picked up a PC virus on my Virual PC program last year but it was trapped like a bug in glass jar. I deleted the program and poof it was gone and reinstalled the program. I guess this is the punishment for cheap companies and people out there. nono.gif To windoze and PC's.
