iMac 500 & Problems with Word

We recently got an iMac 500 of ebay, and have it networked to an iMac 600 and a 6500 in our feed mill.  The iMac 600 acts as file server.  When we try to open a file on the iMac 600 on the iMac 500 we have to go to MS Word->File -> Open-> The File

When we do get it open it won't save, no error message, just won't save

Is everything Shared?

Accessing it as Guest or what?

Sounds like you have Read rights but not Write rights.

Is this all OS 9.x?

Have set Both Hard drives so that everyone has full access

Yes iMac 500 has OS 9.1 & iMac 600 has OS 9.2.x
