Modem initialization strings in os 10.2
« on: March 12, 2003, 09:44:00 AM »
Hello,
I have ran into a situation where as on dial up I am disconnecting. The connection speed is at 50,000 but short durations. I suspect its phone line related, and have added three commas. My result I was hoping for was enough of a pause after dialing to allow the modem to "feel out" the line conditions. This is not working.

My next logical step would be to insert an init string. I have found some, but have as of yet to figure out where they are placed.

Anyone have suggestions? I am going to try and knock the modem down to a v34 and see if it stablizes. I am dealing with os 10.2 and an apple internal 56k V90.

Thanks to all in advance!

Hey guess what I found it ......Thought I would post the knowledge base article number for others. The article is a wealth of information actually!  It is # 106650. It covers os 9 to 10.1 and later.
Hope someone else will find it useful to!

Marie,

Sorry I can't help you with the modem script, but I want to let you know that I did reply to the private message you sent a few days ago.

Hello all,

Just an update here, I did try following the advise on the Applecare doc. and so far has worked with great sucess.

My biggest problem in the beginning when trying to figure this issue out was using a "windows" mind set. I was conducting searches with the wrong terms.

Just wanted to say that the articles advise does seem to work smashingly!
