Need Help with Netscape 7 on Jaguar, please!
« on: February 04, 2003, 11:27:00 PM »
Tonight I DL'd a 15MB file via N7 assuming it would appear on the X desktop.  It didn't happen!!  Tried to do a "Find" for it but, because I didn't know the 'name' of the DL'd file, that didn't work.

Will someone who uses N7 please tell me now you configure the download path??  After about 1 1/2 hrs. of looking, I found it in the Word Processing folder on the Apps partition for Classic.  Go figure!!??  I went though all the Preferences and "Help" for Netscape but wasn't able to find any info. regarding this problem.  How have some of you solved this problem??  Any suggestions??

NS 7 has a Download Manager under the Tools menu, that in-turn will list all your current downloads...which you may highlight individually and then click on the "Show-in-Finder" button...which should in-turn find the file for you...

...or go to OS X System Preferences-->Internet-->Web-->chose a download location and hopefully NS will honor your request.

Thanks a ton, KPS!!  I followed your directions to the DL location in the X Prefs and, low and behold, the Word Processing folder in my Apps partition had been the default.  Have no clue how that came about because I've never 'been there before'...

Anyway, changed it to the desktop and it seemed to be 'happy' with that choice.  After all, there's a lot of space there!     Can't believe that this was such a hassle but then I'm just getting used to Jaguar and its huge learning curve--too many 'layers'... [like Windows?]

Agreed. One side says, hey this is spiffy. The other side says, hey if i want something that wont let me do what i want to do, i can pay a third of the price and get ....
And maybe i could use my scanner on it too.
