Safari snafu...
« on: March 26, 2003, 04:48:00 PM »
Is anyone else having the problem that Safari "forgets" the home page setting EVERY time the computer is restarted, or is this just me?

I don't restart often - this beast runs 24-7, but I've been installing lots of software lately on the new drive, and some of it requires restarting, so I started to notice this little, annoying glitch. Every time - back to the darn Apple/Netscape default start page. I know it's been known to lose cookies (though I never have encountered this), but I can't find any reference to it losing it's home page setting ANYWHERE. It's a minor nuisance...but still. Funny thing - it doesn't lose the cookies associated with my home page - just the page!

Any suggestions - or should I just stop installing new programs?

(and yes, before someone suggests Disk First Aid, fixing permissions etc. - done all that)

Aha - you may have hit on it, bil207! Never thought to look there, since none of my other browsers have exhibited this problem (their preferences stick, when assigned from within the browser). Sure enough....the darn netscape page was listed. Thanks!    I'll report back if there are any problems next restart.
