Adjust Apple AudioVision Display?
« on: April 03, 2003, 02:22:00 PM »
Is there a way to adjust the display (height, width, vertical placement, horizontal placement) on this old monitor? In the back are three little teeny holes with the three symbols I'm used to seeing in an on-screen menu if I adjust my newer monitor. Way back in those holes are little tiny white plastic holes, looks like an allen (alan?) wrench might work, but I'm a little nervous about that. Then do I have to use a mirror to see what I'm doing? How inconvenient! I can be talked into leaving it alone pretty easily.--Joan

Yes. Leave those alone Joan.

Those are for Pro Video Adjustments.

If that monitor is like my 15" it's got a cover below the screen.

Not apparent at first glance.

You have to press near the bottom of the panel to open it.

There you have the buttons to control what you're looking for.

No Joan. That's nothing like mine.

You can stop looking. Sorry.

It would help to know exactly which one it is.

I just downloaded the 1710AV Manual  and that's not it.

Look here.

Joan. I don't know what happened to your earlier post.

The Forum is incredibly slow right now.

I deleted your double post and both posts are gone.

I saw your picture.

My apologies.  I deleted Joan's double post too.      I musta got the top one and Kelly got the bottom one.

The slow down was my fault also.  I'm sorry.

Hi Joan.

Did you try to adjust the monitor via software control? There is the display control panel where you can adjust the display quite conveniently. Apple released quite a few display without adjustment buttons or a on-screen menu. Even newer displays such as the 21" Studio Display shipped without buttons on the display for adjusting the screen size.

[Edit] It's this display, right?

Yes, that's the one! Would that software have come with the monitor on a CD? We purchased that monitor so long ago I don't remember--December 1994. I just found the receipt, it was $550.00, and the Mac 7100/66/AV was $3070. Wow! All the accessories, books, CDs etc. are with the computer across the county, and I won't have an opportunity to search for a possible software CD till Monday. Thank you for the new avenue to explore. It's just such a tiny monitor; it bugs me to have space wasted by the black frame around the screen.

Joan. Some black around the screen is necessary.

I'd suggest trying to change it only if it's larger than normal.

If it's bad you may want to take it to a shop.

Or not bother.

You can get a nice 17" monitor for less than $150.

Guessing what OS you're using, this is probably the Software.
