Too dark ColorSync 17 monitor
« on: April 05, 2003, 11:06:00 PM »
I don't notice it when doing every day things on my computer.  Colors also print out the same as on my screen...  However, when it comes to watching a DVD, the screen is really dark.  Even in non-dark parts of the movie.  In dark parts of the movie, you can barely see anything...  I looked on apples kbase, but didnt find anything useful to me.

I kinda remember posting about this before, but I did a search and didn't find anything.

I am running X.2.4.  Tried booting into 9 but still had the same problem.  My monitor is connected using an ADB adaptor.

I was going to buy a new LCD monitor, but I was just asked to go back to Europe (like last year's trip)...  This time as an assistant leader...  So needless spending isnt an option

Thanks!
Jay

I'm guessing it's just getting older and darker.

That's normal.

You just notice it with DVDs.

They sell DVD Players pretty cheap I think.

Or maybe I'd try messing around with the Colour Sync Control Panel a bit... remember which one you use normally to use for everything else.

If you come up with something that helps with DVD's... I'd just go through the calibration process and make a custom colour sync file, call it "For DVD" or something... switch to that just before you start a DVD.

Just a thought...
