My presumed dead 7100 is alive!
« on: April 09, 2003, 04:51:00 PM »
Thank you everyone, RHP for introducing me to this group, Kelly for your encouragement, neokm for the sending me to Tom for the new hard drive ($10.00!)  BobW for pointing me to the service manual. I could go on and on!  It was actually pretty easy, and I never would have dreamed I could do this--take out the old hard drive, put in a new (to me) hard drive and a CACHE chip ($3.00). The hardest part was disconnecting the SCSI power cable, I cut my finger on some piece of metal that was IN MY WAY. The computer was almost in the dumpster....just about five minutes away from the landfill. I feel like I'm accepting an acadamy award, thanking my crew. My little friend will be happy to have her computer back again, I told her a month ago it was a goner.

Joan, What a nice story.    Thanks for posting it. I know it is appreciated. But truly, you have every reason to be proud--much of credit is yours, After all, it is you who made it happen.

Great news, Joan!

We knew you could do it.

'Course it helps to be a resourceful Buckeye.

Harv, modestly, didn't admit that he, too, is married to one.

Great News! I am so happy that you followed through with the recessitation - I had a feeling you were determined to make it whole again.

I'll bet this kind of makes you feel like you should have gone into medical surgery!?

As my grandfather reminded me often - - - "Use it up and wear it out - - - make it do, or do without".

Congratulations Joan. You should be proud of yourself.

Attaboy jjoan! Er, uh, I mean... You go girl!
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.
