Are you seeing brown/green yet?
« on: April 22, 2003, 05:18:00 AM »
We are now able to see the neighbors eavestrough across the street from us.  Yes, we still have heaps of snow left over from Winter, with more snow coming down this morning.  There is still an average of 4-5 feet of snow on the ground.  Maybe you're more fortunate.  Are you seeing green/brown yet?  If not, how much snow do you have remaining?  We have, for the first time in my 42 years, tired of Winter.  Maybe there's a glimmer of Spring coming from the South?

I'm sitting here in the balmy (not!) Pacific Northwest thinking... where's the sun?

Spring here has been fairly typical with rain and clouds dominating the skys most of the time. The average daytime temps have been in the 60°F range.

You can have the snow!      I'm looking forward to some even warmer weather!

Well, I had to brag, but it is simply beautiful here!!  Highs in the mid 80's, lows in the upper 50's, slight (5 mph) breeze out of the southwest.  Wildflowers are in full bloom, since we had a cold/mild spring, lilies are beginning to pop up, caladiums are just peeking out of the soil, peonies are in bloom.

The staghorn fern that was froze back in our deep freeze of 22º    is sprouting new leaves.  The grapefruit tree is still producing.  The vibirum just lost its blooms...but the four o'clock has regenerated, and is now about 12 inches high.
Do not fear your enemies.  The worse they can do is kill you.  Do not fear friends.  At worst, they may betray you.
Fear those who do not care; they neither kill nor betray, but betrayal and murder exist because of their silent consent.

Wife and I just returned from a week on the Texas Gulf Coast (Houston/Galveston area) where we enjoyed beautiful clear weather, temps in the 70s.

A day or two after we returned, I had to mow my front yard. Will do the back shortly.

We'll be thinking wistfully of you and your four feet of snow, come July/August and triple-digit temps in northwest Kansas!
I'm not a complete idiot -- a few parts are missing!
