OT: My New Toy!
« on: May 10, 2003, 05:45:13 AM »
I just got a new toy (that I'm going to use when we go to Canada). Canon DM-MV600i

It's very small and easy to use! No problem to hook it up to my computer either, imported to iMovie and tried Final Cut Express (a must software to buy!).

Now I just need to learn how to be a good "movie maker". It's my first video camera, so I have lots of things to learn. So if you have any suggestions, welcome to feed me them! smile.gif

Hey, who's that little one on the screen? wink.gif
I'm glad you finally got the camera, i know you been waitinggggg for it so long.
If you have some time left before going on holiday, just go out and film everything you encounter, lol.

Enjoy. smile.gif

I'd say, for when you're doing serious stuff, use a tripod.

Assume you have one for your cameras, will it work? smile.gif

Judging by the way you take still pics,I'm sure you'll be an expert at it in no time Petra.  biggrin.gif

Hehehe... I have TWO tripods, so I think I can use both. One for my digital camera and one for the DV-camera.  blink.gif   laugh.gif

Nice! clap.gif

You'll have plenty of fun shooting, but I love editing after. That gives me lots of pleasure.

I can't justify FC Pro, but I may get FC Express and possibly THIS.

Pan slowly, don't zoom too much (I need to work on this one), get close, shoot plenty of cut-aways...have fun!

When editing, go easy on transitions, don't over do it with clichés or too many different types in one video. Stick with 'straight cuts', dissolves, fades and overlaps. You don't see too many radial wipes or barndoor transitions in films unless they're called for. A radial wipe, used quite often to indicate the passing of time can just as well be done by a slow fade-out followed by a fade-in (unless you need to indicate speed or maintain the pace of the video). "Pushes" or iris transitions are better suited for PowerPoint presentations and not your videos. biggrin.gif  wink.gif

My mistakes can be seen HERE.  biggrin.gif  doh.gif
