The Broken Laptop I Sold On eBay Web Site

The set-up: Someone sells a laptop computer on eBay.  Said laptop arrives broken, either during shipping (lousy packaging) or it was shipped already broken.  

The seller refuses to provide a refund to the buyer, so the buyer scrounges the laptop hard drive for bits of the seller's data. Amazingly, the buyer finds LOTS of bits and bytes, including his name and copious personal info,    not to mention pics of the seller, the seller's friends and family, and his...hmmm, rather kinky photographic interests.    Be aware that although some of the pics are censored, the more senstitive among us will find plenty to offend them.

You might call this an example of "frontier justice" in the Digital Age.

I think that Amir has probably crawled into a deep hole in Dubai and covered it over with dirt...

Finally someone gets what they deserved.

It reminds me of this guy who was almost scammed out of a Powerbook but managed to turn things around. If you have time read it, it's hilarious, as are the pictures.

Well much as some people hate PayPal I sure am glad I used it for a deal on a Quicksilver the went south. Long story short it essentially arrived DOA... I tried all the normal things (including one which should have work but ended up making me see BLOOD!)

The guys accepted methods of payment were wire transfer, money order or PayPal... of course for something like this I would generally choose PayPal.

Credit Card company's in Canada are not exactly toothless... they have 2 or 3... they aren't much help unless the object does not arrive at all after 30... arrives DOA... oh well.

However opening a formal complaint with PayPal got me every red cent back... took about 3 weeks I think now for investigations which I can understand and handle and then I received notice that my $$$ for the full amount of the cost of the thing and shipping were being returned to me. I can only speak for myself but the people at PayPal were most courteous and helpful with me all along the way.

Pay by wire transfer or money order on Ebay and the money is gone if something goes wrong.
