Is it possible to undelete a tune from iTunes?

I accidentally deleted a favorite song file. Anyone know if it's possible to undelete it?

Have you checked the trash?  It might be waiting in there.

I couldn't find it in there. I also searched by the track name "Track 05" on the system but couldn't find it that way either.

How did you get that song in the first place?

(I know, you're looking for the easy and no cost solution to your "oops".)

I don't have iTunes, never downloaded a song. Looking for a little education here.... Do you get an electronic receipt for such a transaction?

I guess that doesn't matter though. The seller could not be sure that you really deleted it or are just trying to get another copy for someone else.

But you could copy it for someone anyway... Lots of holes in the system, eh?

Whenever I delete a song from iTunes, for some reason, it doesn't show up in the trash can right away. Usually, if I click on the trash can to open it up, it will then appear. But if you deleted the song from the library (and not just a playlist) it should be in the trash. If you only deleted it from a playlist, it should still be in your library.

I actually own the CD it came from. And if I could get my feeble old mind to remember to bring it from home to work, I could easliy restore it. But truth be told, this isn't the first time I've done this. What I did was copy the song from the album folder to a favorites folder...twice by accident. When I went to delete the extra copy it actually deleted all 3 of the files.

I have always thought of the individual tunes in itunes as aliases to the actual song files - maybe it depends on the way you 'put' the tunes into itunes in the first place - I always drag-and-drop the songfiles from Finder folders into itunes playlists....I keep my own MP3 folders, organized the way I want 'em, and do NOT have that 'copy into itunes folder' preference enabled.

Ack! What's in a name. Heard Symphony N0. 93 (Hayden) and Symphony No. 36 (Mozart) at a park downtown at lunch. Both were pretty good. Glad I got to work so early 'cause I couldn't leave the park in the middle of Mozart! (the conductor was joking about those "very original" titles)

Yeah...I've got about 20 of those.

Our firewall prevents me from accessing whatever database at iTunes that automatically detects the CD's title and tracks info. Consequently I have to manually enter the CD's info myself. I rarely enter the track names. Just the CD's title.

That same firewall prevents me from going to the iTunes store and purchasing tracks as well
