Oh no. Here we go again!
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

Home safe, after a great day of driving up the Turnpike, with a couple of places that were, "can't see the lights infront of ya" stretches.  We're ready, we need the rain, tide is projected 4-6, that's ok, office is higher, so it's an iffy if projected land fall is correct.

Happy Summer y'all.

Do not fear your enemies.  The worse they can do is kill you.  Do not fear friends.  At worst, they may betray you.
Fear those who do not care; they neither kill nor betray, but betrayal and murder exist because of their silent consent.

As an employee of the Army Corps of Engineers (Charleston, SC District), we'll be gearing up for possible deployment (if we're needed); as the storm approaches, I'm sure I'll be hearing requests for volunteers. May be time to begin packing, although atr this point it doesn't look bad, we all kn ow how these things can change.

This time of year the water is not quite warm enough to create the conditions needed for strong hurricanes, but a steady tropical wind can raise water levels and flood low lying areas.

sokukodo, if your deployed to Tampa Bay I'll be here to greet you with a towel and some hurricane party favorites! wink.gif

As of this morning 4.30 AM tropical storm winds are forecast as far north as the South Santee River (about 30 miles south of here, Georgetown County); I commute to Charleston (about a 2 hr drive) and will be entering that window shortly; I'm expecting heavy rain from there to the office. Hopefully, that's all we'll get! My little 1988 Maxima (a quarter-million miles on the odometer) with no windsheild wipers (RainX works fine) has always pulled through just fine. Why there's no wipers is another story (it was a dark and stormy night ...) having to do with a bizzare electrical system.

Thanx for the offer, Sandbox! You never know!

I'm at work now, and the consensus seems to be that Alberto's peaked as a hurricane (The Mouse That Roared?), although between TAMPA and CEDAR KEY will receive a storm surge of 6' ... are you getting wet, Sandbox?  whistling.gif

Anytime sokukodo!

My area is high and dry, but there are those that need to run for cover at the first sign of wind and rain....... and some counties north of here did have evacuations in place, in low areas as well as mobile home parks.

We had about 4 inches of rain, and 20 hours of high wind, mostly in the 50's but upto 70 mph, according to my windsock.

I do plan on upgrading my anemometer this year, I just haven't quite found the right format. wink.gif

RainX works fine, in rain, it does get a bit nasty when the dust comes along. RainCakes biggrin.gif

Cedar Key does have coastal flooding right now, and we are at low tide.  I'd say the wind is pushing about 4 extra feet of water in.  Time will tell, high tide is at 3 p.m.

I'm good and high, so it's just friends, clients, work.... aw heck, it's 0 beer thirty... drink.gif
