Question About Mozilla
« on: July 02, 2006, 05:32:31 PM »
Hey y'all,

Mozilla installed on hard drive. What have I done wrong now?

I should be getting the little dinosaur; what I have is the "G" http://www.google.com/firefox?client=firef...n-USofficial....

I said I would ask before; unfortnately, I didn't. So far [thee] are not impressed.  sos.gif please.

thanx.gif

I have no idea what that means, but what have you set as your desired startup page in the prefs? Not sure about Mozilla, but in FF, it's the first item in the General prefs.

Instead of the Mozilla Firefox homepage when I click the Firefox icon in toolbox, I get a page that says "Firefox Start". The URL box that should be that of FF is as stated in my previous post.

I looked into "preferences"; I believe it had the correct setting but my "click" finger got out of control.  wink.gif  I clicked "USE CURRENT PAGE" . Now "preferences" has the http://www.google.com/firefox.....URL.

If I knew the correct URL I could reset "preferences". However, something wasn't right before, so there must be something simple I need to do to fix it. wacko.gif

Liz try this:
1. If you want to use TechSurvivors as your start up page, go to that page [any other page you want]
2. Open your Preferences in Fire Fox.
3. Click on General icon.
4. First item is Home Page.
5. Choice is location with place to put url, or
6. Use current page, use bookmark, or use blank page.
7. Enter what you want & close preferences.

That should give you what you want.
I have tried all of the three choices, and prefer a blank page, as it is quicker to go from blank to something else, than it is to start up one one page, wait for it to load, and then go elsewhere, and that will be for every new window you open.

Good Luck
HTH

I'm a bit lost as to what the problem is exactly, but as I use Mozilla, I know what the dinosaur is!

If you don't know what the url is for what you want as a home page, I'm afraid there is no way of getting there, much less getting it to be your Start Page. Do you not have the site as a bookmark? In any browser? Thinking.gif

You'll need to type it into the correct place in your prefs or access the site and use the "Current page" button. FF/Mozilla is a great browser, but it does not yet have enough artificial intelligence to find that page without assistance from you. Right now, it's doing exactly what you told it to do.

(I tried doing a "quick reply". If it is some where around, please, excuse this repeat.) I see I just quoted Kelly and left no message. huh.gif Beats me what I did.  oops.gif

OK... I have a homepage. It's all in understanding exactly what the instruction is saying. I truely thought I was following inst.

I'm glad somebody knows about the dinosaur . It's the emblem of Mozilla. I was beginning to get insecure about that.

FF is getting easier to navagate. It's sure to take a bunch more study and errors before it's as easy and familiar as IE. It definately isn't as simple. (As they say, "user friendly".)

thanx.gif once again.

kelly the dinosaur is the counterpart to...

Explorer's "e"
Netscape's "N"

.... it's the logo in the upper right corner of the browser window. It changes to an "m" when the page is fully loaded, but while loading, it's the head of a dinosaur.
