Best wireless router
« on: July 12, 2006, 07:22:41 AM »
Good morning,

We just purchased my son an xbox360 and he wants to play on line.  I am looking for a recommendation for a wireless router.  We have high speed DSL .  The emac is in my basement office and his xbox360 is 2 floors above.  We looked at routers yesterday and know that we have to purchase an adapter for the xbox.
Awaiting some input.

Thanks,

 Johan
Hmmmmm. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!

you can use any Wireless Ethernet Bridge for an xbox
or that xbox adapter

the best wireless router in my opinion is this one made by Linksys with MIMO technology.

My friend JJ and i find that the range and speed is awesome

or use an AirPort with a Dr. Bott antenna

Hope this was helpful

Johan, this would be my approach if you wanted to extend & expand your network to a second/third/forth floor.
Wall-Plugged form factor for the Wireless Range Extender

I like this router for it's USB printer sockets.

The combo would give you a strong signal and full network capability and portability on three floors and the attic. wink.gif

Parker IEEE 802.11n or MIMO is not exclusive to linksky and this one has a Gig ethernet. with 300Mbps wireless.

The linksys router with Mimo that i linked to is not an N router, or Pre-N,
and the 300mbps is pointless if you're xbox game adapter won't support it.
And i never stated it was exclusive to linksys, that was the router i recommended and believe to be the best.

Take care y'all,
parker
