Has anyone had any experience with Filemaker Pro 7?

What i have been trying to do is share the database over the internet, i can get it working fine over LAN , and i thought i had opened ports 5003 and 591 through my firewall on the netgear router ( DG835GT ).

But when trying to access the database over the web nothing! I can access the router by simply typing in my static IP as 80.xxx.xxx.xxx , and all i though i had to do to get at the database was to type , 80.xxx.xxx.xxx:591 , but all i get is the safari meesage saying can not find server?

Any ideas?

It's been awhile, but if memory serves, you need to make sure you have the DB web-enabled in the prefs......then ensure that the port is getting forwarded......sounds like perhaps it's not.

Haven't messed with Netgear routers, so I'm not much help there for the port forwarding.....but might double check the setup.

Take care,

chris
Umm, I'm a nerd.

Hi
Thanks for that, infact i now have it working, it was down to the fact that i was trying to view it from the same network that was serving it via the internet, But when viewing from an iBook on a different network ( and different ISP ) i found that it was working fine ( and was working all the time too)
