What else besides Stuffit???

I know the defacto compression program on Macs is Stuffit. Is there anything else available to send compressed files to Windoze users? ...or can you use Stuffit to do this? dry.gif

I think that if you use the "archive" feature, it will create a "zip" file that can be opened by Windows users. In OS 10.3.9 (which I use) you highlight the file then go file->"create archive of [file or folder name}". You can easily email the new zip file. Not sure if it changed in Tiger--or if I'm correct that the zip file can open in Windows--but I do think it can.

A couple of IMacs, an iPad, a bunch of iPhones...two of which don’t live here, but I still pay for. Oh yeah, wife, daughters, and yes—a grandson!

Ok, it looks like since Panther, this is the way to go. Check the section in this article under "Compression Fractures"--it's at the bottom of the page. smile.gif  (Boy, "compression fractures" seems pretty darn painful. rolleyes.gif)

This link at Versiontracker shows command line tools that Apple supposedly includes with the Developers Tools:

I don't know for sure but you could probably check it out!
