Too bad the new MacBook Pros don't have PC slots... sad.gif

I still can't figure out why Apple had to be out on the cutting edge with the card slot - NOBODY makes peripherals for that ExpressCard/34 slot - and it's too darn small for a compact flash card (which most of the high end cameras use), so many of us are going to be forced to go back to external card readers, rather than our nice (and cheap!) little CF PC card adapters. Even if they'd opted for an ExpressCard/52 slot it would have been much better - those can fit a CF card adapter AND they're compatible with things designed for the smaller slot as well.

Maybe they'll add the larger slot on the Rev. 2s? I can hope...

Err...perhaps I should have said ExpressCard/34 peripherals "USEFUL TO MAC BOOK PRO OWNERS"?? That list has things like Firewire adapters. Most Macbook Pro users aren't going to want one of those.

The one CF card adapter has a note: "MacBookPro Users : MacBookPro only offer a 34mm slot and does not accept this adapter." Even though in the list it's listed as EC/34

At any rate - not the range of things most of us would find useful and the photographers among us - other than those using the teeny-tiny media (memory sticks etc.) which I find TOO small and too easy to lose, are inconvenienced.

Paddy,

While I agree with most of what you say, I do have an 11 in 1 card reader in my Macbook Pro  as I type this.  It works great, but as you have already said, It is too small for a Compact Flash Card.  It works fine for me since I bought my Canon SD500.  I also have an original s100 that uses compact flash so.... a usb reader is necessary for that.  I do wonder why they didn't go with the 54mm slot so that pros using digital SLRs and compact flash cards would not be left out?
