internet config error
« on: October 07, 2006, 06:19:56 PM »
I use Netscape 7 with Outlook Express on my Mac, system 9.2.  When I tried to get online, authentication failed, so I shut down, unplugged for a minute and started up. Then I was able to get online, but the following problem occured: When I clicked the "mail" icon on top of the Netscape browser, it said: "an internet config error occured. Please verify the mail and news settings." However, when I clicked the Outlook Express application itself, I have no trouble sending or receiving email. Why is the Netscape "mail" icon not triggering Outlook Express to open?

I know others will disagree but I would use MS IE instead of Netscape.
I always had trouble with it in OS 9, could have had something to do with my complicated Office software package, I don't know but, it just wouldn't work.

MS IE and Outlook worked well. iCab is other option but it's flakey.

There are probably some netscape preferences that could be manipulated to make Netscape work, but in time it will find something else it's not compatible with.

Is OE designated as the default email app in Internet config?
