How many places does Safari store its data?
« on: September 05, 2006, 06:53:04 PM »
I am having a problem getting in to a private forum that I should have access to.  I am unable to get in with any browser on my macbook pro.  On my imac, I can get in with Firefox but not Safari.  I used to be able to get in with any browser on any mac.  This is a recurring problem that seems somewhat random.  I had just given up going there with the Macbook Pro and would just use the imac and Safari.  Now I only able to use Firfox on the iMac to get in.

When I attempt to load the URL for the sign in Page Link Instead of getting a screen for the login and password, It just hangs and I get nothing.  It seems as if I go there with a browser that I have never been there with... I can get in, but once the problem manifests, I am unable to fix it.  My question is....

How many places does Safari store data?   I have tried the reset Safari command, I have cleared all cookies (both manually and through the menus. I have cleared the browsing history, I have erased bookmarks, I have even trashed every file that I can find with the name Safari in it via Spotlight.  I have looked in both the main Library, and the User library.  I know I am missing some things though because after erasing every pref file cookie, history etc.... every thing I can find..... when I launch safari TS still comes up as my startup page..... So Safari obviously is accessing something I have missed.  I have even moved my keychain file to the trash....

The bottom line is that I can not load the login screen at the above link.

Ok this is weird.... I have not been able to get in there from this computer for weeks. I have tried manually typing the link, clicking the forums link from the TWIT main page, and using my Bookmarks... nothing has ever worked.  Now after making this post, I simply clicked on the link in my own post... and got right in???

Still can't get in from the iMAc though...???

Wow... clicking on the link in this post has fixed the imac now too..... I don't get it.... I just typed the above link into TS.... Clicking on it works.... when I typed the same thing into the address bar multiple times did nothing??
