Upgraded Ram on iBook
« on: September 04, 2006, 01:08:43 PM »
Hi There people,

My little iBook now (finally) holds 1,25 Gb Ram.

The entire installation went smooth, following the print-out from this ifixit.com website.

There is one thing i wanted to mention though, in case more of you are going to do this.
The ifixit guide mentions to unplug the keyboard connector from the main board before pulling out the ram module.
I found that this isn't really needed though, as there is space enough at the ramslot to take it out.
They might do it as a precaution but than again, that keyboard connector is like a small IDE connector and is pretty stuck and is hard to get a grip on also.
Just don't bother with it, it's not needed.

Now i just have a spare 512 Mb Module.

I see no reason to unplug the keyboard when installing RAM in a G4 iBook; just place the keyboard out of the way. Every set of instructions I have seen (including Apple's) have not included unplugging the keyboard, which could be a hassle as you have noted.
