Purpose of Favorites folder in the Library folder in OS 10.4.6
« on: October 16, 2006, 03:55:14 PM »
My e-mail client is Eudora 6.2.3. I was preparing to install Version 6.3.4 but because of past difficulties, I searched for the location of the Eudora Folder that contains all the important Eudora stuff including mail boxes and backup. What I found was the Eudora Folder resided in two places:

  .Users/mamamoose/Documents

  ,Users/mamamoose/Library/Favorites

The Eudora Folder in Favorites contained items from April 2006 and appears not to be modified since then. The Eudora Folder in Documents contained all the current, as of this AM, mail stuff.

What the heck is the Favorites folder and what is its purpose? This folder also contained three other files/folders that were not related to Eudora.

Thanks for any help.

MM, Found this in the 10.4.8 Help. I don't recall what, if any, differences there may be in 10.4.6, but FWIW:

Using your Favorites folder-

The Favorites folder is a place where you can add aliases for applications, files, folders, and servers so you can access them easily. You can add the Favorites folder to the Finder's sidebar for even more convenient access.

• To find your Favorites folder, open a Finder window. In the sidebar, click your home folder, then open your Library folder. Your Favorites folder is inside.
• Drag the Favorites folder to the sidebar to place it there.
• Drag items to add them to your Favorites folder.
• Double-click items in your Favorites folder to open them.
