Blank screen..?

Hi,

Got a blank screen (g4 /os 9.2.2) at start up, the same whith a restart...
Booting from a cd and running DW, nothing wrong was found, what could be the problem, is it the symptom of bad things coming...?

Do you have OS X on the machine, as well? If so, what happens if you boot from it?

Does blank mean the screen stays black but not when you boot from a CD, or do you get a blinking question mark? Do the fans  work?

If the machine is not loaded with OS X, as well, but you have or can beg, borrow or "liberate" a System X DVD, you could run the DVD's Disk Utility SMART check to see whether the drive is dead or dying. (I think all G4s came with SMART drives and enough RAM to run OS X.) But I'm not sure which versions of OS X include the SMART check. Maybe all of them do.

Hi,

The screens were not black (on my two mirroring monitors)  but nothing happening...
Booting from the cd was ok and nothing wrong was found whith DW, so i didn't do any repair.
After that, rebooting on the internal drive was ok too...
Just wondering what was doing this problem and if it's not  announcing more problems...

What  do you think?

Short of running a SMART test that isn't the be-all and end-all anyway, it could be anything from a dying drive to a loose cable or pinched ribbon connector — or nothing at all if it's back up and running. Maybe an extension didn't load.

No scraping or other new noises?

Backing up your files would be No. 1 on the list, though.

There was no extensions loading...not even a sad or question mark  mac icon ...
Now it seems ok , no scrapping ,...hope it's nothing...
