iTunes problem connecting on one of my Macs
« on: November 30, 2006, 01:42:17 PM »
I am trying to add songs to my cart as usual, on my G4, but keep getting a message that says,

"Could not add an item to your cart.  The network connection was reset. Make sure your network connection is active and try again"    OK
Then get the message that the Music Store is temporarily unavailable(5555)

And the bar across the top, the Accessing Music Store just keeps spinning and spinning and spinning,,,,,,,,

Yet I can listen to the songs with no problem?

So I tried to get that song with this Mac, the G5, bingo popped right into my shopping cart.
And these Macs are off the same cable router and both are working fine.
No problem with the net or email or anything, this is bewildering.

Both are networked, so I dont really care which shopping cart is filling up though.
Thanks,
Jane

More confusion, Gee, I could write a song with that title, well anyway, Ive got my iTunes going on both networked Macs and my shopping cart shows up on both, adding the songs that I gather on either computer.
So I guess I dont need to worry now.

Not until the credit card bill comes! harhar.gif I went to the store earlier today to check the availablility of a new podcast for our church and saw the same spinning/delay. I suspect that they are just busier than usual with ex-Zumies buying iPods! smile.gif and the circuits from Memphis to the left coast may be having trouble with the slick routes due to ice/snow...Thinking.gif

Interesting to see that one Mac connected and one didnt.
But my problem is OK due to networking.
I guess that after school hours that things can get busy.
But one yes and one no, thats odd.
We just loved your pheasant photos, as we dont have them here nowadays, due to too much building.
Jane

Its later, and works fine now on both Macs?  Odd isnt it.

Jane, just curious,

Are both machines hardwired into the network?

As you know from some of my previous posts I was having some difficulty with my wireless machine... just curious... And is this the same G4 you installed Tiger on recently?

Thanks,

Hi Chris,  These are both, actually 3 of them, all connected thru the cable router with ethernet cable.  I didnt bother to do the wireless, as I dont want my computers anywhere else in the house but here in my little office. We have 'attack mode' grandkids and our grandcat is known to love to play with wires.  Actually the kids are pretty good now that they are not babies anymore, but I dont want them to play games or stick their little fingers on my nice LCDs.
My husbands Mac is in his office and its also connected with cable, we wired the house so that we could have ethernet everywhere on the first floor.

The other Mac is now in its new home, Boston.  Our daughter is going to run that memtest program on it first, then do that firmware thing, reinstall Tiger, then I have a friend who will troubleshoot it if we dont find the problem.
I was just looking at a new Mac the other day, the 23 inch screen one!  Oh, so beautiful it is.
