Well, partner has converted....
« on: December 08, 2006, 02:44:43 PM »
My partner has been using my beige G3 for ages now and getting not very far.

I wrote down a list of his requirements:-

1.  Word processing for crosswords, writing songs and letters
2.  Wants to design covers for music
3.  Arrange and create cd's to burn and DVD's - lots of big music files
4.  Scan pictures to make artwork - big files
5.  Import images from net
6.  Use the internet

So all of these things really added up to an iBook.

Searched Ebay and found a really good one (100% feedback from 2002)

G4 ibook with 80GB HD, dvd superdrive, 1.33ghz cpu and 512mb RAM.

Sounds ideal and I think that my partner might get the plot now and start smiling rather than cursing the beige G3 when it won't co-operate.

Now, off to find something for myself......

Have you already finalized the deal Frances?

If not... would you mind posting the URL to the Ebay listing for the machine here? I don't want to be a "wet blanket" but I'd feel a bit bit better if some of the others more experienced had a look-C... wink.gif

I'm sure you'll be OK... however I really got stung on an Ebay deal for a G4, but I recovered all my funds due to the fact that I'd used PayPal and they did a good job of investigating it for me and I prevailed.

This seller has a 100% Feedback rating with 311 feedback replies. I can't imagine you are going to have any trouble here!

The only caveat for me would have been a warranty, or the ability to purchase Apple Care.

But honestly, with this kind of feedback, I doubt you're going to have any problems with this transaction.  biggrin.gif

Let us know, please!

Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

I second Chris' response - with that sort of feedback, you should be just fine. smile.gif Looks like you got a reasonable deal too, considering that others appear to have paid £450 or more for the same machine.
