ImageEvent.com just went south
« on: December 14, 2006, 07:05:40 PM »
ImageEvent bites the dust.
I had lots of really nice photo albums on its site, and paid $24 a year.
But its gone, and so has MacHome.
So these things do fade out, and go away.
I do have all the photos obviously, but it sad as they were customizable albums, very pretty.  Just like a web site.

Jane, I'm confused. ImageEvent is still loading and you can "join".

WOW,  It sure is!   Thank you!  I tried for several hours last night, and got nothing.  So just assumed it had gone under like MacHome magazine did.

But I am so glad you brought its survival to my attention.  I was ready to delete the bookmark.

But another reason not to trust web-based storage 'solutions'. If it's not under your control, it's not under your control! smile.gif I recently noticed that my unlimited storage space site had disappeared, probably because the owner moved on to other things. But it was never touted as 'life time', it was simply free space that he never charged for and I used it simply for stuff to link to in places like this. Nothing there that would cause any trauma if lost. Very nice while it lasted, but like all uncontrolled things, I wasn't in control! flower-smilie.gif

And, just because you pay for something, don't expect that to be a garauntee that it will always be available. I paid cash for a '51 Volkswagon back in 1970 ( came with an official title and everything! ), but it still didn't last forever! smile.gif

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

I am glad ImageEvent is still here.  These albums are really old and are snapshots scanned, so I do have them plus Ive got them on a CD and one of my ext HDs.
I think Ive got all our pictures doubley backed up.

jcarter,

Assuming you did not type it incorrectly. It could be due to ImageEvent.com's server or your ISP's upstream link issue. Something certain sites just can't get connected from certain ISPs... You can't do much about that.
