Yoo Hoo!

First post with the new DualCore24!   toothgrin.gif

That has nice ring to it!

Moving everything (77.7 gigs of Documents, for example!) over from the Igloo appears to have gone smoothly . .. photo library n' everything. . . except I can't find out what happened toFF's bookmarks.

But, generally, the sun is shining and the birds are singing in Northern California.  coolio.gif

harhar.gif Funny you should mention "veal meals" as that's what my good wife suggested as my reward for being such a 'good helper' (mainly "Quality Control") over the last two days of fudge and divinity making, and spritz, gingersnap, and chocolate chip cookie baking yum.gif  yum.gif.... huh.gif but, of course, the majority get shipped East to NYC and Chicago to 'the boys'...

So it will be breaded veal cutlets, greens salad with viniger & oil dressing and a little white wine (from Oregon) Look.gif  yahoo.gif  yum.gif

Dick, so glad that your new 'toy' is working so well, and that the transfer also went smoothly.....  now I hope tomorrow's flight to HI goes as as well!!

Nice!  Glad you like it.  Yes, transition is easy with Migration Assistant!
Do not fear your enemies.  The worse they can do is kill you.  Do not fear friends.  At worst, they may betray you.
Fear those who do not care; they neither kill nor betray, but betrayal and murder exist because of their silent consent.

Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

Santa brought it early!
I am thinking of one fairly soon.

Migration Assistant, that must be really excellent.  I assume that you can choose not to migrate some things over, for example I have many folders that have classwork and photos in them.  Stuff that I probably wouldn't need on the new computer, just to have on the external HD, for use if I needed it later on?
I better cross that bridge when I get there,,,,,,
Congrats!
Jane

Migration Assistant works very well indeed, moving 99% of the files.  Sometimes a stray preference file or application won't make the move, but using MA can save hours of work moving files to and configuring a new Mac.

Migration Assistant does have some options regarding what will be moved to the new machine, but I don't recall how specific you can be.  I don't think that you can exclude individual folders, so it might be easier to just migrate everything and then delete what you don't want (or copy those folders to an external drive and then delete them from the old Mac prior to using Migration Assistant.)

OK, that sounds easier.  I want to leave most everything, as my husband will be getting this one.
Its just the folders of Photoshop homework that tend to clutter things up.
So I will just migrate everything over and he can take out those folders. I will put that stuff on the ext HD anyway.

. . . was precisely what I did.
