Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application
. . . so says a warning in the past few days on the screen of my Palm TX.

What’s that all about? I have used Bluetooth for a number of months/years to Sync that puppy to two separate Macs. True, now I have as new iMac, and a couple more Bluetooth devices:  keyboard und Maus.

But, where is it written that additional BT devices preclude using some ”original recipe” models?

I looked into the BT Prefs panel (at things I don’t really understand) .

I’ve also turned off all remaining BT devices.

No change.

No go.

Any ideas/instructions?

dntknw.gif  MAYBE.... your BT keyboard and Mickey are 'interferring' in some way... Can you 'revert' to 'old fashioned' wired attachments and see if then you can do the BT sync...

Dick,

I suggest that you turn off the bluetooth system. Check your system prefs for bluetooth and such it down. Then pull all your Bluetooth devices. Now it gets tricky because if you try to access the Blutooth preference panel without keyboard and mouse, you will fail. So, if you have a wired mouse plug it into a USB port  and access the pref panel and see if the system will recognize the wireless mouse. If it doues, then see if it recognizes the keyboard (it may do both at once). You may have to patient and keep trying. Now you have a clean Bluetooth setup. I assume you have a bluetooth dongle attached to an USB port. Now try to HotSync and see if the Bluetooth  panel shows it is seen.

Other than that, leave everything alone and check  USB under About this Mac under

Dick, maybe your dearly beloved was having one of those hot spells at the time, and thus yours was blocked. HotSync to the rescue! You could have fried the thing! eek2.gif
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.
