Powerbook battery care
« on: January 20, 2007, 09:00:57 AM »
Hi TSers,

I just purchased a refurbed 15" Powerbook G4 1.67GHz from Apple, and I'm wandering what the best practices are for maximizing battery life and session longevity.

1) Charge it, then disconnect and drain before reconnecting power adapter?
2) Keep the charger connected while using it in the computer room? That way, you're always ready for the road.
3) It doesn't make a bit of difference?
4) Other?

5) Connect or disconnect charger while PB running?

I was pleasently surprised when I got this computer — It had a 100GB drive and 1GB chip in the bottom memory slot instead of the 80GB drive and the 512MB memory advertised on the refurbed site. I had ordered an additional 512MB memory chip from OWC, so now I have 1.5GB memory!

I've only been using it for a couple of days now setting it up, and from what I've seen, I really like it.

Hurray for Apple! clap.gif  cheer.gif  WOW.gif

- Thanks, Jack

When I got my 15" Aluminum PB, I used to charge the battery and then unplug it, using battery power until the warning came up.

After awhile that got old. The battery in this thing only lasts about 90 minutes... or less! Now I usually keep it plugged in all the time unless I'm traveling.

Yep.
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.
