You no longer have to update to 10.4.8 to run the DS Patch!

Apple has reworked the Daylight Savings Patch for 10.4 so you can run it on anything at 10.4.5 and above.  This was at MACFixIt and I'm all of a sudden having to worry about this at work because most of our MAC's can't get a good enough attachment to the internet to download everything that needs to be updated:

Most of you probably knew that 10.4.9 doesn't work as well with wireless and the Airport as 10.4.7 which is why people aren't updating.

Thinking.gif I just went back and read today's MFI home page. Didn't see anything about a new DST update for Tiger. Your link still says 10.4.8 is required, doesn't it? But this update has been out for over a week, now. Have you found a later updater?

I assume you meant 10.3.9 when you typed 10.4.9 above. dntknw.gif

QUOTE
UPDATE 2: Note that daylight savings time rule changes for the United States and Canada are already available in Mac OS X 10.4.5 or later. Other regions (including Australia, Brazil, the province of Alberta, Canada and several others) are affected by this February, 2007 Daylight Saving Time Update. Despite this fact, however, Apple says "You should install these updates even if your computer is used in a time zone that is not affected." -- presumably for proper interaction with systems in those regions.

Well, perhaps this didn't say what I thought it said; or maybe I read it somewhere else? eek2.gif

Well, I was hoping what you reported was true, but I may as well go for the 4.8 upgrade after another backup of this iGloo! blush-anim-cl.gif I think they finally got all the bugs out by now...Groaner.gif

The way I read the DST updater was that there is a stand alone one for Panther. But the one for Tiger requires 10.4.8. Even though 10.4.5 had the needed changes for the US of A, there have been changes in other parts of the world which will only be accessible if you do the new updater. The only problem for a US of A user might be when they receive a message/file from one of the newly affected countries. dntknw.gif Sometimes I can get a different interpretation of a paragraph just by reading it again! blush-anim-cl.gif And English is supposed to be my 'native' language! doh.gif
