WireTap Pro or Audio Hijack?
« on: March 02, 2007, 06:00:52 PM »
Hey y'all.
I'm looking to do a little recording on my mac from my DJ application.
I'm trying to debate whether to use Audio Hijack or WireTap Pro?

Anyone record anything from their mac before?
Any suggestions?

Hey Parker,

I've used a bit of Wire Tap Pro... so far so good, I have no experience with the other program. And, they have free download you can use to preview how it works.

Ambrosia Software is a great little company, I hope you like their software! I have been using some of their programs from way back in OS 7x...

At least three times a week. Sometimes more often ( tapes to CDs, etc. ). I mainly use Sound Studio because of its variety of filters, number of files saving types and ease of use. I did like Amadeus volume control, however. Very similar to the one in GarageBand. Have you tried using GB? Never even thought about doing it that way. dntknw.gif

WireTap Pro or Audio Hijack?

FWIW I: A new version of WireTap Pro is in development and beta testing is ongoing. The estimated release date has yet to be announced.

Details. and a venue for your feedback or comments, are available Here

FWIW II: I use WTP and found it to be solid, intuitive, and without fault. The only issue I had is that the "do not call home" preference was difficult for me to find. Of course, I noted that in my feedback (above).

FWIW III: Apparently Audio Hijack gets a bit higher ratings on VersionTracker, in part because it has some capabilities that are lacking in the present version of WTP. Whether these missing features will be in the new version, I dunno, but I suspect they will, especially as they (Ambrosia) claim they will go well beyond feature parity.
