Any issues with OS10.3.9?
« on: April 11, 2007, 10:53:00 AM »
I'm using OS 10.3.8 and wanted to dowload Flip4Mac. It tells me I need 10.3.9.
I've been hesitating with that because a friend had problems when he went from 3.8 to 3.9.
He went back to 3.8 and then eventually to 10.4.

I use Photoshop 7, InDesign CS, Appleworks 6, and Freehand 11. Plus a bunch of smaller apps.
Are there any issues with 10.3.9 and these apps that you are aware of?

Thanks all. :-)

I can't speak to how 10.3.9 works with the apps you mentioned, but I found 10.3.9 to be very stable. To be honest, I only upgraded to 10.4, because I was bored on a quiet Saturday afternoon, had the chance to buy it at an education discount, and did both an "impulse buy" and "impulse upgrade." biggrin.gif (FWIW, I've been fine with Tiger as well.)

As far as 10.3.9--no complaints here. Of course, as always, YMMV!

EDIT: FWIW, flip4mac worked fine with 10.3.9 as did AW.

A couple of IMacs, an iPad, a bunch of iPhones...two of which don’t live here, but I still pay for. Oh yeah, wife, daughters, and yes—a grandson!

Any issues with OS10.3.9?

Good afternoon,

I went from 10.2 to 10.3.5 and finally to 10.3.9.  The upgrade was flawless, and 10.3.9 has been VERY stable ever since.  I do run Onyx about every 2 weeks and run Diskwarrior every 6-8 weeks.  I have have never had an issue with any apps that I run, and my 15 year old son, well he's into gaming, chatting, and buying music, and he has yet to complain that there is a problem, and he has done several upgrades.  I had thought about moving to 10.4 but plan to buy another iMac when 10.5 comes out, so I am staying with 10.3.9.

Hope this helps,

Johan
Hmmmmm. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!

I do use Photoshop 7; but I use Quark instead of InDesign, Illustrator instead of Freehand, and Word instead of Appleworks. However, I haven't had any problems at all with 10.3.9.

Workin' here boss... 10.3.9 was a great upgrade from 10.3.8, absolutely no issues to report on the negative side.

10.3.9 is a rock-solid update. I got a tenner in my pocket that says your friend actually had no problems caused by 10.3.9 at all, but rather something was ALREDY wrong with your friend's computer, and he didn't know about it until after he installed 10.3.9, and therefore assumed it was caused by 10.3.9.

Most problems "caused" by system updates actually are pre-existing, in my experience.

How about 6 out of 6?

Ditto all the affirmatives.  smile.gif

I held off on 10.3.9 for a long time. But finally did the Update. smile.gif

It's the best version of Panther.

Many Apps will only work with Panther 10.3.9

Opens up more possibilities. smile.gif
