I'll second that. I've usually left the printers off when not printing something. My Epson 740 was possessed. If I forgot to turn it off, but shut down the computer, I'd come back later and find pages and pages of garbled junk. It would print until it ran out of paper. I "caught it in the act" once, and it was just printing a line or less at a time, then resting. ...very strange!
