TaxCut from Mac to PC
« on: February 12, 2003, 02:02:00 PM »
FYI:

If you used TaxCut on your Mac last year and are feed up with the "Mac-Tax" of using it this year, then be aware that you CAN import last year's rerturn into the PC version.

I thought long and hard – but I could not justify spending $39 (after $10 rebate) for the ONLY version available (Platinium).

So I went to to evil Best Buy and got the PC version (Deluxe) for $19 (after $10 rebate) and a free Microsoft  optical "intellimouse" (after rebate). It tipped the scales because I needed one for the old PC laptop I have. And that mouse works great with any USB Mac! It's funny that Microsoft reccomends using the serial port adapter on Windows machines (not the USB).

Since I will use this software ONCE and then fergettabout, I could justify it.

I imagine that next year if I switch back to getting the Mac version, I will be able to import my PC return.

Maybe. If Bill lets you.

Just picked up another M$ mouse myself.

It was $20.

I THINK it's outta his hands. It seems to me that the electronic file you transmit to ol' Uncle Sam is the same file that TaxCut, and TurboTax use as their "saved file" of your entries. Both TaxCut and TurboTax can read each others returns from last year. But that's a guess.

M$ optical mice run between $21 and $25 locally. Adding postage to a mail order would about equal out the costs.

I have another M$ optical mouse on my 7500/G3 USB/Firewire monster. It runs well with OS 9.1. No bugs or crashes. I do wish the Intellimouse control pannel allowed for  assignable custom keystrokes like my WACOM mouse does. To bad they don't come in black; the blood-red glow of the sensor looks wicked in the dark.

That was not just an M$ Optical mouse. It was the Explorer 3.0

Taken me a while to get used to the shape.

Kind of like it was squished to the left.

But it's a good mouse.

kelly,

Followed yer link this time.

Yup, that's a good price!

Funny, the site doesn't list Mac compatibility.

The scroll wheel is worth the price in itself!
