When exporting from the camera, you're exporting at speeds so extraordinary that a network can't handle it. This is why early cameras only used FireWire and not USB (when it was USB 1) for handling video, and still prefer FireWire over USB 2. The wire between your camera and comptuer is carrying hundreds of megabytes a second, which a typical network can't process (and maybe even handle) at that speed.
