Before our ID badges at work became double-sided (that is they only had info on one side) I put a paper badge on the backside of mine that said KISS (for Keep It Shut Stupid meaning my mouth). I'm guilty of this, as everyone knows, In fact I'm probably a master at it.  I'll try to do better!

Not exactly Mistake # 11, but is, perhaps, part of a Poster’s responsibility…

When seeking a solution or asking a question, have the courtesy to subsequently “Close The Loop” and post the status/results to the query.

Even if the problem persists, you got the solution elsewhere, etc., posting the results is a great benefit to others doing a search on a similar issue as well as a nice way say thanks to those who took the time to reply. And if the suggested “fixes” don’t work, that too can be informative, educational, and may preclude us from proffering bad/inappropriate advice in the future.

The full quote.

7. "Over Posting - Look, people don’t come to a forum to hear one person talk all the time. It’s a community, not a soap box. If you want it to be all about you, start a blog. It’s very easy to dominate a forum, especially in the early days. There’s not a lot of activity and you’re eager to keep the conversations going. But, you need to give others a chance to answer questions, give advice, or offer up their opinions. If a post goes ignored for too long, by all means reply, but you’ll smother your forum if you’re the first to reply to every single post. As the old saying goes, “Better everyone think you a fool, than to open your mouth and prove them right.” And who knows, you might even learn something…"

Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.
