It sounds legitimate to me, the way the article describes it. It says that Apple announced the 300 charges after the person bought. Although I suppose the person still had time to return it.

PC Magazine has an iPhone death watch. Although they say that Apple told them that after 400 charges, the iPhone would only hold 80% of its charge.

Probable Factoid:

Jose whatshisface is not what this is all about. Nor is it about my beautiful iPhone's battery.

It's about some firm of Class Action Lawyers trolling the waters of corporate and professional America just looking for "classes" they can purport to represent before their brethren on the bench . . . all too willing tolerate such nonsense. Why "nonsense"? Because Jose will reap little benefit from "successful" results, if any, while the lawyers all get new yachts and summer houses.

IMHO.

Whatever happened to Caveat Emptor?  Now you need to spell out every possible aspect of owning something or you get sued. rolleyes.gif

For what it's worth, David Pogue revealed back in January that the battery is not replaceable by owners.

I'd love to buy an iPhone and I might, but $90 for a replacement battery is high. How much of its "beauty" are you taking away by making an opening to take out the battery? Other places do the iPod battery, so there will probably be alternatives. But this really leaves a bad taste in the mouth, as does the lack of iChat.

This company will replace your iPhone battery for just $45. The battery is soldered to the case, they say, so it's difficult for the average person to change by himself. This is the part of Apple I don't like so much. If everyone else can make phones with easily replaceable batteries, why does Apple have to solder it to the case? Simply because $499 and $599 isn't enough income for them.

I would still like to get an iPhone, though.
