Generic icons in Jaguar?
« on: February 13, 2003, 01:22:00 PM »
Last night I downloaded the Safari update as well as the latest version of Safari Enhancer, and when I opened my Apps folder afterwards, what I found looked most odd (I was going to make the shot smaller but getting to my iDisk right now is well-nigh impossible):

Never seen the like of those generic icons, if that's what they are, before.
Quitting the finder made no odds, but logging out and logging in again did the trick and restored the normal icons.
I'm just curious as to where those came from.

This is not an uncommon problem in OS X.  Have a look here for the solution:

No,  Bill, Classic wasn't running.

Randy , thanks. All is well now, and should it not be, I've got a back-up of my preferences from when things were running smoothly, but I'll still take a look at Dragster.

By the way, your name has made it's way over here, in the interest of ongoing excellent Franco-American relations.

In it's February issue, a French Mac mag,  A vos Mac!, has a brief article with appreciation of your work, a reference to your page, and commendation of the translation done by GrĂ©goire Seither.
They headline it "La rĂ©solution des maladies du Jaguar" -- under an intriguing classification I have yet to work out: "Zoologie".
A vos Mac! can be tongue in cheek, but does a good job.

Edit. What I forgot to ask: Are those "generic icons" or not? I've never known what such icons might look like in Jaguar.
