« on: August 03, 2007, 09:02:16 AM »
This New Yorker article cites a DEC salesman as having sent the first spam e-mail in 1978! Interesting article.

Shoot! I didn't even know there was such a thing as e-mail until around 1983 or so.

I'm sure I wasn't bothered by Spam until late in the 1990's!   dry.gif

whistling.gif  Until a few years ago I thought spam was a salted meat that you fried or baked and put in sandwiches.

Personally, I don't like either kind. yahoo.gif

Yeah, as far as it being a pain in the mouse, probably not much earlier...

My mother made some dishes with Spam. Those didn't "bother" me, so I guess the irritation with spam came in the 90's as stated above. wink.gif

About the Spam in cans: I thought it was amusing to go to the home of Korean friends and be served Spam as a part of their highly spiced food.  I, of course, knew about this connection (Korean War/heavy use of Spam by Army during Korea and heavy marketing by Hormel during the period), but knowing isn't seeing and tasting.  It's not chicken and it's not for "every day" but it isn't bad!   tongue.gif
