On the radio this morning... (WGN Chicago, of course) A woman received her first bill from AT&T on her iPhone account. It came in a box, because it was 300 pages long! They said there's a video of her opening it on the net somewhere.

Why not just e-mail the bill?? dntknw.gif

300 pages!  That sounds like one whopper of a bill!  She must really love that iPhone.

As for as a paperless society.  I sure hope not.  I am a printing press operator.   unsure.gif

Google search - All Words "iphone box AT&T bill" brings up pages and pages....

Video mentioned in first post of woman opening her bill, and blog post leading to it, in which she says some people said they were going to beat her by getting even more pages.... doh.gif

I pay quite a few bills online... some firms suggest I print out a copy "for my files". Ah, so then I pay for the paper and ink! smile.gif

The story was on our local news last night. The woman says the postage on the box was over $10. I imagine they get a bulk rate for standard envelopes under a certain weight, but a package is a package. Serves 'em right for losing out on over $9 for being so, er, less than brilliant.

I pay many things automatically, either to my checking account or credit card. Most still send a bill with "do not pay" on there somewhere. Those that won't, I won't set up to pay automatically. Instead, I pay using my credit card "for this bill only" because I want the invoice stub. Since I work downtown, I can walk my payments in. The only one that meets all these conditions right now is the newspaper. It doesn't save any trees, but it does save a stamp. All the utilities have offices within walking distance of work, but they are automatic payments.
