Resolution on Monitor screen suddenly changed
« on: September 19, 2007, 08:55:54 PM »
I am running OS 10.4.10 on a 17" MackBook Pro. While working with Word, the screen suddenly changed and went to a letterbox mode (vertical black bars on either side of desktop). Also, the desktop icons became very large and overlapped each other. I went into the System Pref Displays panel and was presented with ~ 25 different resolutions and tried the obvious ones but no luck. Right now I am at 1680 x 1040 but it is not quite right.

Does anyone know the standard monitor resolution for this MacBook Pro or if not where I can find this information?

Thanks,

MamaMoose

Tom most likely you hit a Keyboard shortcut.

# Display: 17-inch (diagonal), 1680 × 1050 resolution (1920x1200 available as a build-to-order option).

    * The refresh on June 05, 2007 now allows one to chose an optional high-resolution 1920x1200 pixel display for US$100.
    * The 17" displays, even the high-resolution option, do not use LED backlighting.

Mama-Sounds like you may have accidentally turned on Universal Access.

Try turning it off, first, then try setting the display resolution.  I have the 15 in MBP, so I can't help with native on the 17.
