In for a penny!
« on: September 26, 2007, 05:05:23 AM »
Apparently they're thinking about changing the backside of the American penny:
QUOTE
Washington — A penny for your thoughts will have extra meaning in 2009 — the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth and the 100th anniversary of the introduction of the Lincoln penny.

To commemorate the event, the U.S. Mint, at the direction of Congress, will introduce four rotating designs on the 1-cent coin for that year depicting different aspects of Lincoln’s life.

Those designs will replace the engraving of the Lincoln Memorial on the “tails” side of the coin. The famous profile of Lincoln will remain on the “heads” side of the coin.

- Martin Crutsinger, Associated Press Writer

I think the one with young Abe standing up looks more like Ichabod Crane from the Legend of Sleepy Hollow!

As it now costs more than $0.01 to make a penny, the Mint has come up with a grand solution...

make it more expensive to produce! tape
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

I don't understand the rationale for the two bottom images of his log cabin. Why bother with two versions of the same thing? Unless someone's relatives came up with the drawings and ....  rolleyes.gif

The second log cabin shows the remodeling done after the "Design to Sell" make over. He was moving to Washington and needed to 'flip' the old place. rolleyes.gif What you can't see is the added emphasis on the fireplace feature, "It really pops now! And the granite counter top reall adds value to the combo kitchen/bath sink!" Groaner.gif
