EDITED ... because time and life have changed, or maybe it was the lightening that struck right behind us, or the thunder that rumbled the floor ... or ...
1. Change the resolution(s).
Okay, found a res I can live with. I'm picky, but happy.

2. You are aware, are you not, that the Intel iMac has no "Classic "facility"? That disappeared after the G5. Some of your older doc files with thus be un-translatable. . . . even with Harv's Balm, as applied . . . . wherever! toothgrin:
Classic - what's that?
Haven't used it in years, so I'm not worried about translating old stuff. I'm still holding out for a balming massage from Sneakers.

Sorry, too, if I didn't grasp your dilemma.
No need to apologize, Richard. I appreciate the tips - you never know what I might bump in to during this change over.
So if I understand correctly when you put the G4 in Firewire Disk Mode it doesn't work? Hmmm... Have you tried selecting the clone of your G4 on your external drive?
Here is some basic info on how to migrate data from a PPC Mac to an Intel Mac. If you haven't kept things up to date by upgrading to Univeral Binaries (apps that play nice with both PPC and Intel Macs) then you can have some problems using Migration Assistant.
Got the firewire to work - just needed a different cable. My external drive is USB and somehow that's not working either.
So far ... I love the iMac. I was most unhappy with the migration, BUT ... I erased the drive, reinstalled the software and with the new firewire cable the migration went smoothly during the install. Everything that should work, now does.
Thanks for the link, Mayo. That's one page I've missed in reading how to fix this. I read it earlier, made copious notes (printers not yet hooked up) ... and then didn't need the notes. LOL! Now the page is down, but since everything is working, I'm good to go.
My word, the speakers on this machine are NICE.
Marine Write works flawlessly.
Even most of my games are good.
I'll get the printer up and going tomorrow.
For now ... I'm off to try to sleep.
