Mac Office 2004
« on: November 20, 2007, 01:34:05 PM »
iMac G5 rev.A, OS 10.4.11

For a couple of days, each time I open an Excel or Word document, I get a window that says
“An unexpected error occured while trying to load the Microsoft Framework library” with an OK selection.

When I click OK, the document opens normally.

Is there a way to fix this short of reinstalling Mac Office?
And if I do reinstall Mac Office, may I install it on top of my current installation?
Or do I have to trash my current Mac Office before reinstalling It?

Thanks.

First of all make sure you have all the updates to the program as this was a problem that occurred with an earlier update:

More updates:

If the updates don't fix it, here are some possible things to try other that a full deletion and reinstall:

Uninstall completely the office test drive - even from the Trash. Then delete the microsoft user data folder from the documents folder. Resolved the error msg immediately for me.

Here is a resolution for the X version of MS Office:

If you do decide to remove Office here is the page with links to proper removal:

Thanks again krissel.

Updated my old version 11.2 to 11.3.9, and everything is now fine.

It was my first experience with updating a MS software. I had to go through each update before the next.

i.e. 11.3.0, .3, .4, .5, .6, .7, .8, .9.

It's up to .9 now?! I checked on this a few months ago because we have a copy (3 licenses) of 11.3 when it was at .3.3 and I thought it only went to .5 at that time. Our sons are using 2 of the licenses and both of them upgraded. Glad your problem was solved. smile.gif
