iMac G5 rev.A, OS 10.4.11
For a couple of days, each time I open an Excel or Word document, I get a window that says
“An unexpected error occured while trying to load the Microsoft Framework library” with an OK selection.
When I click OK, the document opens normally.
Is there a way to fix this short of reinstalling Mac Office?
And if I do reinstall Mac Office, may I install it on top of my current installation?
Or do I have to trash my current Mac Office before reinstalling It?
Thanks.

First of all make sure you have all the updates to the program as this was a problem that occurred with an earlier update:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908466
More updates:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/ph/2490?sid=247
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/7884
If the updates don't fix it, here are some possible things to try other that a full deletion and reinstall:
QUOTE
Uninstall completely the office test drive - even from the Trash. Then delete the microsoft user data folder from the documents folder. Resolved the error msg immediately for me.
Here is a resolution for the X version of MS Office:

If you do decide to remove Office here is the page with links to proper removal:

Thanks again krissel.
Updated my old version 11.2 to 11.3.9, and everything is now fine.
It was my first experience with updating a MS software. I had to go through each update before the next.
i.e. 11.3.0, .3, .4, .5, .6, .7, .8, .9.

Wow.
That sounds like something MS would do.

It's up to .9 now?! I checked on this a few months ago because we have a copy (3 licenses) of 11.3 when it was at .3.3 and I thought it only went to .5 at that time. Our sons are using 2 of the licenses and both of them upgraded. Glad your problem was solved.
