1Password Assistance Needed...

I'm probably giving up on Safari for the time being... since upgrading to Safari 3 I cannot print PDFs, video replay is erratic, etc. On my wife's G4 iBook she could not close Safari windows the other day... Firefox just keeps right on working, so Firefox is taking Safari's place. The only stumbling block is how to use all the Safari auto-fill passwords that I have collected over the years...

I downloaded the free 1Password app, but heck if I can figure out how to transfer passwords from the default keychain to the new 1Password keychain. The instructions do not seem to match how things are displayed in Safari or 1Password and I cannot find an import/export command in either 1Password or Safari that does the trick.

BTW, what is the deal with 1Password Assistant?  What does it do and will it always start-up when 1Password starts-up?

I know that there are some devoted 1Password users here at TS so knidly help me be Very Thankful today!

Mayo, you can import your Safari info into 1Password. I just started using it, so had to look it up:

I just imported them all - now I've got 141 passwords stored!

Paddy, I looked at that link before I posted my question... My version of 1Password doesn't have a menu that looks like that.  There is no "import passwords" option.  There is an "Import..." menu command, and when I click it I get another window where I can select the kind of passwords I want and it shows the same drop-down menu example as the link, but I still cannot locate an "import passwords" command anywhere.

I'm going to try restarting since I haven't done that since installing 1Password. Nope, that didn't do it...

I'm Stumped.

Just realized that my Firefox didn't appear to have the 1Password icon in the menu bar, so I couldn't do anything either. Found the info it looks like we both need(ed) here:

You have to quit all open browsers to update/install the plug-in, but sure enough, the 1Password plug-in was not installed. Followed the instructions and restarted FF and now all is well.

The import password function is reached via the icon in the browser menu bar, not within 1Password itself.

Thanks Paddy, that did the trick... I did not realize that the instructions referred to a 1Password icon that had been installed in the Safari toolbar.  I finally noticed the new addition this morning... And I also needed to manually add the 1Password icon to the Firefox toolbar. I missed the unchecked box when I was perusing the 1Password preferences yesterday.
